Danny Mahlon (May-lun) Underwood is former member of the International Society of Poets. He is an ISP Poet of Merit Award winner. He is a three-time Outstanding Aceivement Award winner. A member of the ISP International Who's Who in Poetry, named a 2006 Poetry Ambassador and the author of the books My 'A Look Into Soul', 'Dark Eyes;Deep Mind', 'Beyond The Smile' and 'The Demons Are Done Dancing'.

Danny Mahlon Underwood was born in Decatur, Il. in June of 1963. He started writing poetry at the age of thirteen, while trying to deal with the death of his Grandfather, who passed away 6 months earlier. It was his first experience with death and raised alot of questions in his young mind. 'My Grandfather' was his first poem.

His second poem was titled 'The Gifted One', written at age 14. This poem was written after his freshman english teacher, Ms. Chestine Piefer, who had heard his first poem, 'My Grandfather', suggested he take a look into his soul, because she believed he had "the gift". She told him to "Find it, tap into it, use it and you will be amazed at what you see." She thought he had that something very special, as he spoke to her with his heart, while reading his poem.

Danny Mahlon Underwood won an Editor's Choice Award, in 2002, in a book titled "Tumbling Into Tomorrow" published by Watermark Press, for 'The Gifted One'.

His poem 'The Gifted One' was also published in "Theatre Of The Mind", published by Noble House Publications in the U.K. in 2003

His poem 'The Silence' was published in "Colours Of The Heart" in 2004, published by Noble House Publications in the U.K.

His poem 'I'm Like My Parents' was published in "The Best Poems and Poets of 2003" published by Watermark Press in 2004.

In 2004 he was inducted into the International Society of Poet's "International Who's Who In Poetry" and published in a book of the same name with a poem titled 'Fallen Hero'.

"A Look Into My Soul"
written by Danny Mahlon Underwood is a collection of 22 poems and an eight chapter short story "Shadetree Racing Team".

His poem 'Fallen Hero' won an Editor's Choice Award in a book titled "Twilight Musings" in 2005, Published by Watermark Press.

'Fallen Hero'
lyrics were written into a song by Nashville Music Productions, in 2005 and recorded in Nashville for a compilation CD.

was published in "Expressions II" by the League of American Poets in 2006.

was published in "Famous Poets of the Heartland" 15th Anniversary Souveneir Collector's Edition  2007

'Dark Eyes; Deep Mind', published by AutorHouse, released in Nov. 2008.

'The Demons Are Done Dancing', published by Authorhouse, released in September 2011.
